About Doug

As a multi-generation Idaho rancher, Doug Pickett knows the value of preserving our Idaho values for future generations.

For over 140 years his family has worked the land his great-grandfather, Moroni Pickett, settled back in 1882. Pickett was born in Twin Falls and graduated from Oakley High School. He served a church mission in Germany shortly after the fall of the Berlin wall, witnessing first hand the plight of those trapped under repressive government regimes. This experience instilled within him a desire to preserve the freedoms that make our community a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Pickett went on to graduate with a degree in Economics from Brigham Young University in 1995. It was at BYU where Pickett became reacquainted with his future wife, Brady Beck, of Burley. They have been married for 30 years and have three sons: Maeser, Strom and Porter. Pickett has served his community in multiple capacities. He has coached youth football and basketball for over ten years, served on the boards of Oakley Vigilantes, Oakley Valley Water Company and as a Commissioner for the Oakley Valley Cemetery District. At the county level, he served as the Cassia County Gateway Powerline Taskforce Vice-Chair, Chairman of the Cassia County Federal Lands Advisory Group, and as a Cassia County Farm Bureau Board member. He also served on the Governor’s Bighorn/Domestic Sheep Advisory Taskforce.

Pickett has extensive experience serving within the Republican Party for 22 years. He has served as precinct committeeman, young republican chair, county vice-chair and served as Cassia County Republican party chairman. He also served nearly 20 years as a member of the Republican state central committee.

Pickett and his brothers own and operate Pickett Ranch, producing wheat, potatoes, natural beef, and grass fed lamb. The highlight of his life has been being able to work with his sons, the fifth generation of Pickett’s, on the land that they love. They are an important part of the reason why he is running to preserve and protect the Idaho way of life.
